Tencarva is Going Red for Women!

goredforwomen

February is National Heart Month. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease, but we can change that because 80% of cardiac events can be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.

Most people have heard that high cholesterol is not good for you, but did you know it can increase your risk for heart disease, heart attack or stroke? In fact, about 47% of American adults have cholesterol levels that are too high. A healthy lifestyle is the key basis for reducing your risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk. Know your numbers, but treat your risk. Ideal numbers for the general adult population are:
• Total cholesterol less than or equal to 180 mg/dL
• Body mass index (BMI) of less than or equal to 25kg/m2
• Blood Pressure of less than 120/80 mm/Hg
• Fasting blood sugar of less than or equal to 100mg/dL

National Wear Red Day was created in 2003 to create awareness among women, but it’s a day to create awareness in everyone! Incredible strides have been made in the movement against heart disease and stroke. Together let’s keep the trend going. Show your support by wearing red tomorrow.
