About this Job

After approximately 24-36 months of training in our Jackson, MS office, application engineers will be assigned to a sales engineer in the El Dorado, AR. There they will assist the sales engineer on specific products lines by doing quotations and providing technical assistance. This will consist of the investigation of mechanical problems and recommendation of the proper machinery to provide a solution. After a suitable time in the Application Engineer training and when an opportunity is available the Application Engineer may be offered an opportunity to become a Sales Engineer at one of our offices anywhere within the Tencarva geographical foot print. Sales Engineers are allowed almost unlimited latitude for personal initiative and engineering imagination. Work is intensely interesting, never monotonous and approximates 60-80% Application Engineering and 20-40% commercial psychology and sales procedure.

Tencarva is a 100% employee owned corporation organized in 1978. Operates offices and facilities in the states of Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Products:
Hudson Pump & equipment products include pumps, process equipment and related items for industrial and municipal services as manufactured by some of the best-known names in the industry.

Customers:
Virtually all manufacturers of products including the following classifications: Municipal, Contracting and Government, Paper, Chemical, Food, Textiles, Tobacco, Furniture, Shipbuilding and Repair.

Job Summary

Promptly and accurately provides customers, both external and internal, with application assistance, quotations, orders, and bill of materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Gather all necessary technical back up in information pertaining to the quotation.

Prepare quotations based from technical information provided by or extracted from customers, and review the quotation, if necessary, with sales engineer, branch manager, or operations manager prior to sending to customer.

Respond promptly to customer requests, whether a quotation request, technical information request, or expedite request.

Prepare bills of materials accurately, promptly, and clearly.

Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application, and keep current on all necessary software used internally.

Articulate technology and product information to sales engineers, service personnel, and customers.

Provide design and specification support.

Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements, and always be courteous and professional with customers and vendors.

Maintain accurate records of accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence.

Help sales engineers with quotes.

Other duties as may be assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Customer service or sales support experience preferred. Must be available for travel.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and financial reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the business community. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
