Tencarva Machinery Company ranks No. 46 in The Business Journal’s 24th annual Fast 50 – fastest-growing privately held companies in the triad. Tencarva came in at No. 46 and has the most appearances with 17. “I would hope we’re ranked even higher next year,” Tencarva President Ed Pearce said.
Tencarva, a distributor of pumps, pumping systems, liquid handling systems, and related products, ranks 46th in the recent 2022 “Fast 50” listing of top-performing, privately held companies in the greater Triad area, selected by The Business Journal Serving the Greater Triad Area. Tencarva is the only company to have qualified for this award a record breaking 17 times. We take great pride in receiving this honor and we couldn’t have done it without all of our staff.

How has your company grown in the past three years? Over the last three years, Tencarva has enjoyed respectable growth in revenue, talent acquisition and partnerships. While we all face supply chain issues, our strategy has been to stay the course and look for opportunities in places we might have overlooked before. 2021 was a very eventful year for Tencarva for many reasons. We continued to perform superbly companywide despite the pandemic and related supply chain challenges and forged a new partnership. Much work was required to achieve both these accomplishments and these will serve us well as we build our successes in future years.
What’s been in your playbook to be successful? We have assembled the best team of talented, committed and customer-focused individuals in the engineered equipment distribution business.
Do you have plans to grow your team or business? We are always looking for opportunities to grow and are currently active in this pursuit.
Are you hiring? Companywide we are currently looking to hire for 23 open positions and estimate 50 over the next year.
How are you tackling the talent war? We have implemented a multipronged approach. We have dedicated staff working on attracting candidates through employment sites, colleges, trade schools, universities and government portals. Additionally, we have a social media campaign to focus on our employees to display our work environment to prospective candidates. We have trained our hiring managers to use an applicant tracking system and continue to develop our recruiting strategies to draw the best possible future employees.
What’s the best question a job candidate has ever asked you and did you hire that person? We get some real head-scratchers every now and then. Not sure that we hired any of those but we look for a total picture including attitude, enthusiasm, skills, experience and drive.
